Library view

From the 7th floor I looked out from one of the windows and sketched what I saw:

Once I am able to add value it will give life the sketch and really make the details pop out on the page.

Gatewood drawings

Assignment: In sketchbook draw 4 different places in Gatewood.

Lobby:

Stairwell: could be much darker*

Studio: more detail

Studio view/side view from desk

18"x24" of sketch: It's more finished, has more detail and value.

Turbo scan

I used the app turbo scan and printed the picture in our computer lab... I absolutely do not like the outcome. The scan only captured the black and white and could not get the grayscale.

Library lobby

Assignment: draw part of the lobby and include at least 2 people.

18"x24":
The signs were probably the hardest part to space evenly.

Library redrawing

Redrawing of library: half regulatory lines/half complete

When adding value it was hard for me to stop halfway; I wanted to be able to finish the entire drawing.

Pg. 101 drawing

We were asked to redraw the sketches on page 101 and here is a picture I the entire composition

I really enjoyed drawing these sketches, they put into perspective how much thought goes into making everything proportional.

4.4 Exercise of clock tower and library

In this exercise I included the outline of figures but my main focus was the value of the library building.

The clock tower was more interesting because of the details that I was able I put into the tower. Also I loved the effect it have of not putting hardly any details in the shrubs which makes the tower "pop-out"

In class practice of human drawings and Stoel's chair

After actually drawing people in person I found out it is not one of my specialities. I wouldn't draw dark enough lines because I was so hesitant and I was not confident because I did not want to mess up the drawing.

1. You can barely see half the chair on the left side and I did not even draw the strings on the chair which were a major detail of the chair and I was to afraid to draw lines without a ruler and without putting the right number of strings.

2. Drawing faces scares me. Point blank. When we did self portraits in the beginning and I made it almost all the way through the semester before I was asked to draw another one.

4.15-4.16 human scale

The assignment was to draw someone to scale and the person happened to be me. 1ft.=1in on paper

Mau quotes

Assignment: choose 3 quotes and rewrote them using architectural lettering. Also draw a picture that represents the quote:

I love this quote because it took some time for me to realize that you really should learn to love each step of a project whether good, great or even awful!

What we should do everyday.

My biggest thing at first was to make sure I always had a clean work space... Nowadays I just keep piling on more stuff!

Corners

Corners:

Here is a 18"x24" composition of the first corner on the page above. I definitely put more time into the drawing below and it definitely shows that when time is put into something it will turn out much better.

Art 101. Twig project part 3

Then we were asked to actually put the twigs together using some type of adhesive or twine.

To save my life I could not come up with anything out there and crazy... Tiny twigs does limit you to an extent

But. Then I began to twist the twigs where I bound them together and they formed other "shapes" which intrigued me

Art 101. Twig project part 4

Next, we had to take our twig composition and use a black background and use white to outline the twig form

I made a book using only black and white materials:

There were 3 of the same image of my twig but I used different pens each time.
1. White charcoal
2. White gel pen
3. White ink pen

Here is the third picture in its insides form

Art 101. Twig project part 2

The next part included us taking the twigs and making a composition and drawing them and including our adjectives. Here is what I came up with:

It was a great thing that I picked small enough twigs to fit on this Bristol board

It was much harder than I thought it would be to draw the twig to make an even circle in the middle but without the twigs going off the paper

Next I added lines

Lastly I added the words and here is my finished product.

Twigy is possibly my favorite part.
